My son is 8 yrs old. He keeps telling me his belly feels yucky and not like a gas or poop feeling more like a v* feeling. I gave him some antiemetics a few minutes ago and he says it still feels yucky. He was at a friends on thursday. Home all day friday and yesterday he went over to my grandmothers and as far as I know they went to one store, daughter went too and shes fine. I dont know if this could be a bug? I havent heard of any sickness at his friends from thursday either. Unless he picked it up at the store yesterday? I really need words of advice please. Freaked out!

Hopefully it's just something digesting funny. Big or unusual breakfast/lunch?

Not really. He had cereal for breakfast as usual and about 2 hrs after that is when he started complaining. Gave him antiemetics and made him go sit on the toilet where he had about 5 hard poops. He asked for lunch about 30 mins ago. While he was eating he said his belly was gurgling and now keeps saying he feels like theres a big burp but nothing coming out? I dont know whats going on. Im terrified. I dont want to question him a thousand times and maybe make it worst. School starts back up tomorrow and seems like he really doesnt want to go but when I talk about it with him doesnt seem like anything bothers him at school except that he finds it boring. He asked me if I could drive him there and go pick him up 2 hours early. Not sure what that is about. Im so scared he will v. He probably shouldnt have had lunch but cant hold it back from him either

Is it possible that he knows about your emet and is trying to get out of going to school? Sounds like if he wanted to eat lunch, it's probably not sv*. Usually you have zero appetite before that hits, right?

It's good that he wants to eat. Perhaps he isn't feeling a bad a he could possible feel. He could've picked something up from not being clean at the store or from not being somewhere else. You should probably send him off to school anyways if he's not feeling as bad tomorrow because that will mean that it wasn't anything that could seriously make him ill if it goes away or gets better. Give him medication and if it still isn't working then just have him lay down and play games or something. If your husband isn't home, see if he could come just in case something happens that you can't handle. I know you've had bad experiences with your daughter being ill in 2016, but don't let yourself think that this will be the same with your son.

Since he's able to eat, I think he's definitely fine. My past experiences with sv* have always been preceded by a lack of appetite.

Thanks guys. My husband has been telling me that he thinks that my son is definitely milking me and the situation. I have doubts though. Its very annoying to say the least. My son had lunch. He ate his whole bowl and has been grabbing cookies and juice left and right since. He just came to me and said his belly still hurts and the medicine isnt helping anymore. The dosage is every 6-8hrs and its only been 3.5 since he took it. Hes also really really gassy. And they are badly smelly. He does know that Im scared of v* but Ive been trying to act as normal as possible and just brush it off in front of him. But Im really super panicking inside. Obviously hes been hungry if he ate all that. He just came to me and said "I think I have Gastro". Ugh!!! Whyyyy do they do this to me 🙁. I almost want to tell him he can stay home tomorrow but I Cannot let an 8 year old win! Do yall think this could be a bug?

I would eat cake or a big bowl of ice cream, and tell him I wished he could have some too, but that cake/ice cream is bad for upset tummies. See if he changes his tune. Lol. But I also probably shouldn't be a mother. Good luck!

lol. he had supper and seemed ok for the most part. now its almost his bedtime and he just came to tell me it feels gross again. He usually has like 5 snacks before bed and he hasnt even had one tonight so now I know he cant be faking. Hes been feeling this way all day, could it be a bug and he just hasnt v or d yet or at all? I have not used the best hygiene today since Ive only been home and didnt really read into him until just now. and Im worried we are all exposed to something and he truly is unwell. Its been close to 8 hours since he started complaining about it. Surely it should have happened by now right? Since he did eat all his meals today. Now he is describing a sloshy watery feeling and he says he can feel the water in his throat. Que Panic!!! I dont know what to do? Should I give him another dose of antiemetics or just wait it out? I cant deal with panic

Give him the antimetics just incase. Sometimes kids just have upset stomachs. I even get them that last a day or two without d* or v*. A glass of cold water by his bed? I'd ask your husband for help on this one if he ends up being sick. Don't worry yourself, he will probably be fine.

And with the sv* you usually fall ill very rapidly, that's why I'm thinking maybe he's just having some digestive issues. Constipation maybe? You said his stools were hard and smelt worse than normal.

I'm sorry he's feeling yucky and it's giving you anxiety. Could he by chance be dealing with indigestion? Indigestion is hard to describe how it feels... especially for an adult. It can also make you feel like you need to burp and have discomfort in your throat. I hope sleep helps him. If it is indigestion, sleep will definitely help. I'm pregnant and have it almost nightly.. sleep seems to always help. Also you said he had hard poops. If he's constipated, he could be feeling the affects of that too. Anyway, I hope you are able to get sleep tonight and he feels back to his normal self in the morning!

Hes been sleeping for a few hours now and Im still wide awake worrying. It could be indigestion but he hasnt eaten anything out of the ordinary. I did tend to think he was constipated but he was able to go #2 twice today but he did strain a lot both times. Im still not sure what to think. I know my husband would take care of him because he knows I just cant when it comes to that. I stay as far as possible and block out all outside noises. But I really dont want that to happen. I had a total mental breakdown when my daughter v* from the flu back in november. I feel like Im losing control over emet big time. School starting back up tomorrow also has me so worried one of them will bring it home either way I feel doomed. Terrified my son will wake up feeling worst. I just really hope if it actually was a sv he would have already v by now. And if he has one and doesnt have symptoms I hope the rest of us are all safe. I know how irrational I sound but he usually doesnt complain this much of an upset stomach. When he does say it, he says it once then forgets about it. But he did act very unlike himself today. I just wish I could know what it is. I cant stand the over analyzing and constant obsessing over it.

I almost don't want to say this, but is it possible he has learned a bit of emet from you? Could he be feeling normal things and freaking out about them?

Honestly I Dont know. I try to hide the fact that Im scared all the time but Im sure he could sense it. To be honest I think he may suffer from anxiety and was worried about going back to school today. Its not the first time he complains of a yucky tummy. But usually not that intensely. Both my kids are at school now and my anxiety about them picking something up there is out of this world. I can hardly function normally. I hate this time of year!!
