I was hoping someone could help me with this.
My son v* in 2015 on his last day at school before the Christmas break. He managed to escape last year but of course I’m now convinced we aren’t going to get through another Christmas without illness!
Now my question is, when you or a family member have been ill with *sv does it tend to be the same time of year each time if that makes sense? Or is it possible to get through a second year v* free? I think this is more for parents as my son never v* until he started school.
Please can you help?

Well, emetophobics tend to cling to the time sir heat (and exact dates) that they have a traumatic experience acocsiated with v. On this time of year or specific day, they fear that it will happen again (or just something else that could go wrong associated with v). It’s all just your mind punishing you because it wants to be cruel. Last US thanksgiving many horrible things happened the day before, and this year I was terrified that I would suffer on that day again! Of course, it was just my mind. I was fine. So was everybody else. Just keep telling yourself that it’s all in your head. That’s why emet is so cruel.

Thank you for replying.
It’s horrible, when I think back my son has only been poorly one December and he’s 7.. Me once also and that was *d I think caused by a reaction to lobster as I felt fine after a couple of hours, however it could have just been coincidental and my version of a virus. (Son v* on 16th December, husband kissed son the next day, 20th Dec husband v* once.
Even as a kid I’ve never been ill during the Christmas month so I don’t know why I’m so convinced someone will be every year. It used to be my favourite time of year until 2015 when the above happened. 12 days left of school, I’m just praying. My husband has worked the last two Xmas days too, this is his first off so I’m feeling extra pressure of something not going right!
I assume these bugs have always done the rounds more often at this time of year since I was small but we just never saw statistics or internet with fb updates of someone with a *sv.

Sorry, I’m stressing again! My son now has a sore throat and a cough starting. What’s to worry about you might think? He had the same thing at exactly the same time in 2015 2 weeks before he got *sv. Surely the same thing won’t happen this year!!!!!

Surely the same thing won’t happen this year!!!!! Well, noro season isn’t specific to a certain time frame. Perhaps for your area in 2015 noro was all over! Christmas has never been my favorite time of year (I hate the family drama and it make my birthday invisible to nearly everybody) but it should definitely be a good time of your and I think that you’re stressing way too much. You know techniques to relax, and this would be a good time to put your practice to use. Stay rested, eat well, and keep your mind steady. Your son probably has a cold. I thought I was invincible when it came to colds but this year (probably because I’ve been sticking my hands in my mouth way more than I should because of Invisalign) I got hit with one around November 17 to the point where I was living off of medicine and a bottle of salt water while spending 2 days away from home for a state honors hand. It just happens and we deal with it. Sore throat and coughing does not mean sv. It rarely does. I think he’ll be fine

Thank you!
His cold didn’t amount to anything.
He went to school on Thursday and he said 3 kids were off (I can only assume *sv) - both of those children remained home on the Friday and thankfully everyone else attended. Unfortunately so did one of the kids who was off on Thursday! I mean, there are a few with just fevers and sore throats but what if it wasn’t this. Why would you send your kid back to school just because it was their Xmas party?
I have been okay this weekend, socialising and also took our son on a Santa train ride (freaked out incase any kids on it were *s and I had no escape) but it was actually really enjoyable and I felt a bit emotional that I had done it as it was difficult for me.
My son has only tomorrow and Tuesday left at school, I just hope and pray everything goes okay!

How are things? I think you're probably being a wee bit superstitious about this time of year but we all do that sometimes

So far so good thank you. No other kids ended up off so that was a relief.
I have another concern about the 27th now but I will try to relax!
I start my meds and CBT in January I just hope it works, I need to be normal again! xx
