So, I work in an office and I sometimes cover reception duties.
Today, I had been covering the receptionists breaks and dinner hour. It wasn't until after this I discovered she has been feeling really n* since last night. To the point she isn't eating or drinking anything but water and plain biscuits. She has had a bad cough for a long time but it has started to go, a couple of hours after lunch she said she has started coughing but it was making her gag. She was coughing while I was there. What scares me is I had been sharing a keyboard/pen and phone with her and I also ate a couple of her sweets (boiled sweets) before I knew she felt n*.
If she hasn't actively v* or had d* am I likely to catch anything?
Also, a lady in the accounts dept starting v* after dinner and she didn't go home, she carried on working even though she had v* 10 times!!!!!! She is blaming the turkey salad she had for lunch. God help me! I though all this was done with!

I would be so pissed off at them! Keyboards are actually one of the dirtiest things around, so hopefully you cleaned your hands thoroughly before eating, otherwise you are at risk. And make sure that you stay clean very day! Even if you didn't catch it one day, you could catch it the next! Keep yourself on your toes with hygiene and you can get through this!

I am usually really on it with hygiene. I open doors using something other than my bare hands, I always wash my hands before I eat and I am constantly bleaching my phone, desk, keyboard.
However, as nobody has been ill lately I have started to relax a bit. I still wash my hands before I eat but I have thrown out my bleach spray (it had leaked otherwise I would still have it).
The only two people using the other keyboard are myself and the usual receptionist. Like I said I ate two boiled sweets while I was there and after touching the keyboard and mouse so I'm definitely going to be ill now!
I can avoid the lady in accounts who was the one actively v* (she came to work again today btw) 😡

Don't assume that you'll be ill from eating the sweets! Think of how many people go around touching things that are probably covered in germs then eat finger foods! It seems like the end of the world for us, but the truth is that without being as clean as we are we would, like most people, be perfectly fine at least 99% of the time! Try to forget about that. Otherwise, just maintain those habits and you'll be perfectly fine! On a side note, I'm staying in somebody's home for a week, and she keeps wiping things down and washing up before preparibg food and eating, and it is so awesome! I haven't seen this person physically for 9.5 months and I missed how it felt to be around somebody as clean as me!
