Hi all! I feel like I'm a little paranoid about certain things around this time of year. The major thing that's bothering me recently is when I go to the grocery store to restock I feel like everything I touch has NV*. I always think that the food packaging is contaminated and it makes me nervous for when I use them. Also, I'm always wondering if the cashier has recently been sick and they're touching my food and cash. I know it's probably my emet but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or go through the same thing? Thanks all!

I've been through that. I used treat literally EVERYTHING as if it was covered in norovirus. I never felt like I could be clean enough. Like I'd get home from the grocery store and bring in the bags but then I felt like I had transferred everything from my hands to my front door and inside my house. So I'd wash my hands but then I had to put everything away and again I felt like I just re-contaminated everything so I'd wash my hands again and maybe wipe down the groceries. No matter what I did I felt like something was dirty and I had to clean more.
However, prior to my phobia getting back I actually worked at a grocery store for 7 years. During that time I NEVER had a stomach bug (and this was before I ever started taking any extra precautions against it.) I would sometimes eat after just using purell on my hands (because at the time I thought it would kill everything.) So noro must not be that prevalent in grocery stores.
All I do now to combat these temptations is to just remind myself that things are NOT in fact covered in noro all the time. And rest assured that if I just wash my hands before I eat then even if I had touched something with virus particles on it earlier, I'm still going to be ok.
