So I have a colonoscopy and an endoscopy next week, I'm a bit (REALLY) scared of the general anesthesia making me sick. Has anyone else had experience with it? I've never been under before

I've been under anesthesia 5 times, i've never even felt n*, let alone gotten sick. Even if you were to v*, you'd be so groggy from the anesthesia you wouldn't even notice. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Thanks, I'm sure I will. My dad never gets sick from it, but my mom has with her mastectomy and breast reconstruction from cancer. But I've heard that you get sick when they mess with your chest.

I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy at the end of October last year, and I had general anaesthesia too because I'm only 15. I get the results tomorrow! Ask about anti-emetics before you go under, explain that you're emetophobic. Even without anti-emetics, chances are you'll be fine! You'll probably have a cannula put in for this procedure, and they can deliver medicines through that. Good luck with everything!

My husband had this done and he didn't feel sick after, a little loopy. But only in the way of thinking he could drive (I drove) and falling asleep the moment he sat in the car lol.
I would be up front with your Dr and mention your concern, they'll probably give you something to prevent any possible n*.

You could definitely ask for it before hand. And even after, if you mention feeling nauseous they'll be very willing to give you something (they don't want you vomiting.)
I've been put under twice before and haven't even been slightly nauseous. For me, I just wake up really groggy and wishing they would let me keep sleeping lol. Then hunger sets in because I've been fasting. Never nausea though.
Everyone is different so you won't know until you go under but I know from my time working with patients in the hospital post-op that nursing is very willing to administer Zofran at the first complaint of nausea and it's very effective in that situation.

Whether someone gets sick from anesthesia depends on a number of factors, but one in your favor is they probably won't need to put you into a very deep GA for these procedures (often they are done with conscious sedation, or even no sedation in some instances). For very painful procedures (think open heart surgery, or your mom's mastectomy is another good example), it takes more medicine and/or stronger medicines to keep you asleep. More medicine/more powerful medicines = more likely to get sick. You should meet the anesthesiologist beforehand. Ask him/her if you can have an anti-emetic as a preventive measure. Likely they will say yes. Most medical people are compassionate; they don't want you to be miserable and they are sympathetic about many phobias (some people are terrified of needles, for example). But also as a more practical matter the staff has an interest in you not v* because if you v*, they usually have to keep you there longer for observation. And for outpatient procedures and surgeries, they want to turn over rooms/patients as quickly as they can while still being safe. Good luck! I hope everything goes ok for you.

When I had one I asked if I coukd have an antiemetic. They injected me before I was put out. I was fine.
