Hello! This is the first time I've ever posted to a forum for emets. I've had it my whole life. I always freaked out in class if another child got s*. It's so weird because as a child I definitely caught a few bugs but I suppose all of us have been through it at some time in our lives and for some reason we're still afraid.
Anyway, I tend to panic whenever someone I know is s*. I bleach my bathroom regularly as I still live with my parents and 12 year old sister. I always wash my hands and never touch my mouth or even eat or touch food with my hands (even when they're washed).
This past weekend I spent a good chunk of Saturday and a few hours yesterday with my fiance. Things were totally fine, we had fun, there were no issues. He had today off work and he was supposed to come over but when I eventually got a hold of him late this morning he told me he had v*d last night. It only happened one time and he's felt pretty okay today but it's raised my stress level a ton because I've spent so much time with him in the last two days. I don't think anythings wrong, and I think maybe some of the junk we've been eating all weekend didn't sit well with him but I can't help but be nervous. Should I be worried? I wash my hands pretty thoroughly and he is very aware of my anxiety and he washes thoroughly as well, especially when he uses the restroom. He always washes for 15-30 seconds and he worked in food service so he definitely knows how to wash properly. I've seen him wash in the kitchen before and I'm pretty impressed lol.
I think I'm safe, but do you guys think so? I'm guessing that if he has been washing thoroughly after using the restroom, then there's no way any germs could have come in contact with me. I did bleach the bathroom this morning as soon as I heard and I disinfected other things I know he touched (remotes, my phone, things like that). I wore gloves while cleaning and washed afterwards as well. I washed all of our towels including the hand towels, and then my sheets since we were laying in my room. Does it sound like I did well? I feel better thinking about how thoroughly I've cleaned but I still have a little bit of nervousness.
I try to remind myself that my sister has had multiple bugs throughout her life and has never passed anything to me or my parents, and I live with her, so maybe someone who was just visiting is even less likely to pass it on?
