Hey everyone; I posted this on the other site but since it's not working right now, here I am again...
A few days ago, my family and I got back from a trip to Central America. Since the first day we were home up until now (three days), my mom has been extremely sick with influenza-like symptoms - bouts of high fevers (sometimes over 103) accompanied by killer headaches, chills and sweats, decreased appetite, and overall body aches and weakness. I'm posting this here because I was awake last night at 1AM helping my dad take care of her, come to find out earlier tonight that she had a 102 fever and had v*ed right before I went in to help. She has also had waves of d* hit her here and there for over a day now (sorry for the TMI). As soon as I heard what happened tonight, I immediately went around and sterilized the house with vinegar like a maniac, but I don't know if that helped anything because I've probably already been exposed from taking care of her every day. It's now 4AM and I can't sleep because I just got through a panic attack, which came with random crazy chills and a low-grade fever. Does the flu look different on different people? Was her v* just her body reacting to her fever, or will I be susceptible to it as well if I catch it? Could a panic attack induce a fever, or is that the start of the flu? I already had a minor flu in late fall, and I thought I was out of the woods!
Any responses are incredibly helpful right now. I need to eat and sleep so that I can keep myself healthy and also take care of my mom without freaking out :/ thanks

To be completely honest with you it sounds like classic flu - I've been there before, with the V* and d* and it should have only lasted a few hours tops if I'm not mistaken... Obviously the other symptoms are more severe and lengthy but don't worry even if you get it, mine only got as far as me (TMI) wretching and having d* twice and believe me, the aches and pains were a heck of a lot worse, the stomach thing lasted only six hours...Saying that though, you did the right thing in cleaning like a maniac haha. How are ya feeling? When I got that flu I mentioned, everyone in my family got it minus the stomach thing, don't worry

Sounds like its the flu, but not sure what the v* and d* was, it could of been from the fever but I've not known people to get upset stomach from flu. But I'm glad your feeling better now, and its good you cleaned like a maniac as I would of done exactly the same lol, and the vitamins should definitely prevent you from catching it

My childhood best friend and her family ALWAYS v whenever they got even slightly sick. Catch a cold, and down they all go. Strep, and she ended up in the hospital from dehydration once. Meanwhile, here I am, almost having to get my tonsils out (I got strep almost once a month for a year) and I barely even notice.
Last time I was v sick was in Germany for my gpa's funeral. A bad stomach flu had been going around the retirement home (in fact, it caused dehydration that needed an IV to fix, but he was so gone in the head that he wouldn't let them put it in...) and for some reason we STILL ATE THERE. Of course my little sister starts v at ~9pm, and continues until the next afternoon. I v 2 times, 3 and 4am. My mom v once, around noon. My dad only ever had d.
tldr: Different people definitely react differently to the same viruses.
