I had to phone my sister to see if she'll pick up my son from school as his dad got stuck behind at work. I have just gone to her house to collect him and my neice (who goes to the same school( is laid on the sofa as she has a tummy ache and feels n*. My sister then proceeded to tell me three kids are also off in my nieces class with sv*. Great!!!
My sons class seems ok, there has been 2 kids off in the past week with v* but they are back. There was just one off today but he is off quite often (he told my son if he tells his mummy his tummy hurts she always lets him stay off).
A couple of questions:
Firstly is it possible my son could have picked up this bug from my niece?
Secondly is it likely to be noro if there aren't too many off at once as I read somewhere once noro hits a school everyone that will be affected (usually big numbers) will be affected within the week and after that week is over nobody else will come down with it?
And finally, does anyone with kids manage to have them escape the sv* ever? Like do they get them every year when they do the rounds? And do you tend to catch them as well?
Please help, I am beside myself x

I think your son will be okay if he wasn't actually exposed to any v*. I know the feeling it seems like everyone has it right now and it seems to be getting closer to me as well. I actually am wondering about the kid thing also, my daughter is only 1 so I can't answer about avoiding sv but I wonder also! How old is your son? Have you ever caught it from him?

I have two sons. One got the sv every year from when he was 18 months until around age 14. The other has only had the sv about three times in his entire life (he will be 20 in 12 days). I think it just depends on the child whether they will catch it when it makes the rounds. For whatever reason the older one was always more prone to sv while the younger one always had ear infections. My son who was prone to sv seemed to get them out of nowhere as well. There was never any sv going around his friends when he would get it. As scary as it was at the time, I somehow made it through their childhoods. They both still live at home so there's still that chance but I try not to obsess over it or I'll go crazy.

Thank you both for your replies!
Did you ever catch it Bailey?
My niece seemed ok after she had a nap, she asked for something to eat but I haven't heard anything since.
There are certainly pros and cons to my sister working at the school, I would probably be unaware of a majority of the sv* episodes and just associate it with the Christmas month as it always seemed to be in the past.
When he was at nursery (he only went a couple of times a week but from the age of 1) and he only ever caught 1 sv* which my husband and I didn't get.
He caught another in December 2015 from school, I'm not sure if anyone else caught it or not. My husband v* a few days later (he didnt play any part in cleaning up after my son) and on Christmas Day I suddenly got d* which lasted a few hours and then I was fine, but I don't know if that was the same bug we all had or if it was the lobster I ate. The in laws escaped with no symptoms and we were at their house when my sons sv* started. Mother in law just felt a bit n* the same day I had d*.
A few people were off in my sons class just before Christmas 2016 and my son woke up one night saying he felt n* and he was so pale but he never did v* so I'm not sure if that was his version of whatever was going around!
My son is 6.

So he is 6 and only caught it twice I think that is good!! Try to remember those positives to get you through. How old was he when he caught the first?

He was 2 when he caught his first.
He has v* a couple of times in between but that has been from eating and running around straight after and also reading or concentrating looking down on something in the car! He's learned his lesson with that one!
Yes I must take that in to consideration I guess especially when I have friends kids get a sv* once or even twice a year and they haven't even started school yet.
