Hello all!
Since we are getting comfy in this new forum, I feel it would be appropriate to go over some "forum etiquette".
These are in place to make this forum a safe, fun and accommodating outlet for those discovering, suffering, and recovering from their emetophobia.
Obviously we know to respect one another. Please also scan over the general rules.
1. Panic threads and multiple postings:
We all have panic posts, and by all means please if you feel unsafe, unwell and are in the throws of panic always know you have a home here. There are a few issues that have come up though that we need to address in regards to how many times one can post and what would be considered "panic" posts:
-Panic constitutes of a situation in which you find yourself in great distress that you cannot get out of. Examples would include feeling very ill, nearly or actively v* or d*, having a full-blown panic attack or possibly to the point of self-harm or suicide.
These are the posts that are best meant for our "Emergencies" forum.
-Other posts, best left for "General" boards include: Questions on Norovirus/anxiety/emetophobia, "Am I at risk/was I exposed?"
posts, Discussions and reflections of past experiences, gathering opinions on a subject, what foods to eat/avoid, what medications and supplements to eat/avoid, and general discussion. In other words - if you are not in immediate need of help, please post in the general forums. This is so those truly suffering can get help ASAP.
If you feel that you are panicking so badly to the point you post consistently in the emergency forums daily, consider the following:
-You may have a panic or anxiety disorder that needs to be properly addressed and treated by a therapist or medical professional.
Please see the link in my signature for more details.
-If nausea is a problem to the point you are always on edge, ask yourself several questions: "Have I eaten enough today? Have I eaten too much? Did something I eat irritate my stomach/cause gas? Am I anxious about anything? Am I using the toilet enough? Am I sleeping alright?
Are all of my mental, biological and emotional needs being met?" If all of your T's are crossed and i's are dotted, and you're still feeling ill daily without an anxiety disorder or known medical issue/food allergy, you need to seek medical help to find out what may be causing it.
-We need to all realize that this forum is not just for risk assessments and reassurance but also a place for recovery. We are sadly not all doctors, nor do we know your body or can predict the future. Posting "I ate something funny and I am now nervous, will I v*?" will likely not get you concrete answers because unfortunately, we do not know. This type of post would be best suited for General Discussion.
The next topic I'd like to discuss is the rate of which we create threads
This isn't an easy topic as it can be limiting and restricting, but to make
sure everyone is being heard we have to place some sort of limitations on thread creations. To explain this a bit better I'd like to throw out a few terms
to you guys:
FORUM: A forum is the overall home for all of the boards. This site hosts this forum in which we discuss Emetophobia.
BOARD: (sometimes called "Message Board" or "Bulletin Board System/BBS"): Essentially are topics. Here, the boards are "Emergencies: Private/Public", "General: Private/Public" "Site Info" "Calming Resources" etc...
THREAD: This is basically a discussion. Threads are created right from the board. So, if I am in General Discussion and I want to talk
about puppies, I hit "Create Thread" this is now "my" thread, I am the "OP"
OP: OP simply stands for "original poster" and is the creator of the thread.
POST: These are the replies in all threads.
We are imposing a 3 Threads a day, per forum rule. This means that you can post 3 threads in each forum if need be. This is to not only keep the forums a little cleaner, but it also allows everyone to have their chance to post. It is also a bit flustering when one person has several threads that are getting constant replies, knocking down others' threads. This also keeps everything within threads tidy - instead of making different posts, you can keep all info in one convenient thread to look back in.
But fear not! You can post as many replies as you would like to your own, or anyone else's threads.
Onto topic 3!
Videos, pictures, and media (and some general posting stuff)
I forget exactly how IES had it originally but I don't think direct links to pictures/videos/media popped up. If I recall correctly, it was all in links.
We have the privileged here of posting direct images and videos into our posts...but please, do consider your audience. Obviously we are all emet but we are all in different places and stages in recovery. For this reason:
-Please post any videos, pictures or audio of any v* or gagging (for exposure purposes) in the Uncensored forums ONLY.
-And, if you DO post these, make sure to put a warning in the thread title so people know there is explicit content.
-Absolutely NO nudity, pornographic, or violent media to be posted. These will be deleted immediately and depending on the severity of the media, you will be banned.
-No harassment of any kind is tolerated. If you and another poster come to a disagreement or argument, fine - but do so respectfully. We are all old enough to know better. Luckily, this seems like a peaceful bunch so I don't think there will be any problems but just throwing it out there....
*If you post videos of nudity/porn/violent/vomiting as a troll attempt, you will face an immediate ban.
*If you post videos of gagging or vomiting or anything "gross" to get attention, you will be warned ONCE and if nothing changes, you will be banned.
*If you post exposure videos for recovering without a "warning" label in the title of your post, you will be warned until it is changed. If you are a repeat offender of this, you will be warned 3x. If nothing changes still, Mods will see if you are doing it as a troll attempt and will take action if necessary
for the benefit of the rest of the posters.
*Do not stalk, harass, or threaten any other member for any reason. If you feel anyone is being out of line or is making you uncomfortable, please PM on of the staff and we will review your case and issues.
We are working on a 3 strike system. If you are found doing something consistently, we will warn you 3 times. After 3 times, if nothing changes we will consider taking action against your account. I don't feel this will be a problem, especially with you guys being as understanding and kind as you are. But to make sure everyone gets help, recovery and that this forum is a safe and fun place, we have to stand our ground and maintain peace and fairness.
Thank you for taking the time to read through this, if you have any questions feel free to PM Koiz (Admin), Jess44246 (Mod) or myself (Mod)
Have a great night!
