Work has been crazy lately... So far none of the kids at my day care center have gotten sick (knock on wood) but this morning my coworker whom I work very closely with (we are together in a room with the kids for hours at a time) texted me to let me know that she has been up v* with what she believes is a sv. She said she couldn't even eat a banana without v* just minutes later. Obviously I'm very nervous. Although I was not around her while she was v*, I was with her up until around 5 PM the evening that the v* episodes started. Is it likely that I contracted it from her? I'm freaking out, trying to think back on everything. She felt fine when we parted ways at 5 PM that night... and to think that 12 hours later she had SV is terrifying.

Hey, I totally know how you feel. In terms of your coworker feeling fine that evening, many people (non-emets) brush off n* if it isn't that bad, assuming it can be anything from period cramps to what they ate that day to just a random wave of n.* While sv*s do tend to come on quickly, they definitely do not occur with no notice whatsoever. She probably did feel n* the day you guys were together, but it wasn't bad enough to mention. If one of us was n,* since we're so paranoid about it, we definitely wouldn't react that way. I don't think it's at all likely that you'll get it from her (assuming you didn't share food or a drink when you were together that day), especially since she was not around you when she v*ed.

The worst part is that I felt fine earlier, but ever since she told me I've been feeling so n* and sick. I know it's probably my anxiety but I'm terrified to go to sleep tonight in case I wake up v* like she did. Do you have any idea when I will be considered in the clear? I at least want to have something to look forward to, lol. You are right though... I didn't share any food or drink with her. Just basic things like touched the same door handles, held the same pens, etc.

I feel fine, and then I see a post on Facebook that a classmate has a sv,* and all of a sudden, I feel sick and begin to analyze every little sensation that goes through my body, whether it's a slight rumble in my stomach or I feel more tired than usual. It's definitely anxiety. And you'll be fine if all you did was touch the same things, you definitely can't get a sv* from that.
