I was last sick...: May 2014

Hey guys. So I've been having waves of vague n* for the past 3 days now, they come and go- at some moments I feel n* and at some I don't. Yesterday I was completely convinced that I was coming down with a sv,* and it turned out to be nothing. Today I'm really convinced again, since it feels slightly different. It's just so hard for me to pinpoint what is anxiety and what is actual n* (completely unrelated to anxiety) and know whether or not the n* is all in my head. So I wanted to hear from you guys, how does a sv* start? I'm worried that I have one.

Hi Olivia,
Quite often when I get n* relating to anxiety/stress I get the feeling of something coming up. I am on antacids (omeprazole) as the anxiety causes the excess acid which then likely causes me to become n*.
Do you have any antacid remedies you can take like Gaviscon, Rennie or something? xx

It's gotten worse (not necessarily the n*, just that it feels more urgent now, if that makes sense.) I'm not sure if that means anything in terms of being either anxiety or a sv.* I'm lying down in the nurse's office now, freaking out. How soon after the sense of n* do you know if you have a sv?*

Hi honey! I know exactly how you're feeling. I've been plagued with chronic nausea off an on almost every day for years. Every single bout of n* that I experienced was my anxiety. I haven't had an sv* since 2005 and even if I have since then, I have somehow managed to avoid v*. People tell me that avoiding v* is bad for my body in regards to a sv* but this is simply untrue. V* is a SECONDARY response to the virus as the virus is present and only attacks the intestines. THe v* is just a way for your body to react to let you know you're sick. So if you can avoid that secondary response like i have all my life, you will be just fine. I know this was a long and rambling thing but it just shines a little bit of hope on your situation.... I hope. sending hugs!

Anxiety maybe? Tiredness?
Also, are you on any medication?
I'm sorry youre feeling like that. It's my least favorite thing ever so I sympathize.

I hope. sending hugs! Thanks so much for your response! 😊 I hope that I can avoid the secondary response of v,* I just wish I knew if I was going to instead of having to wait for multiple hours. I have n* pretty regularly too, but some days (like today) it's worse than others, and it feels a little bit different, so I begin to wonder whether or not I could have a sv.* I'm just so convinced that it's a sv,* despite not knowing anyone who's been sick recently. It's amazing (not in a good way) that anxiety can be this powerful.

I am tired, but that doesn't usually make you feel n.* I'm on Lexapro but I've been on it for months, so it's definitely not that. Anxiety does often make me n* but today I'm just so convinced that it's something different. Thank you! 😊

Since it's been over 3 hours since I posted this, does that mean I'm in the clear? I still have the symptoms, but don't sv*s usually start more suddenly?

You would know by now if it was a sv*.
I also suffer n* on a almost daily basis, I take the antacids and anti emetics. I take them as soon as I feel n* as I'm always scared this is 'it'. But I know deep down I don't need all that as it's anxiety related. Sometimes the n* gets that bad (particularly when I'm tired) I definitely feel doomed but it turns out I'm not.
Also, what I find helps is ice cold water with the juice of a full lemon. It's quite bitter but I find it really settles my n*. A glass of milk can be good if it is caused by acid xx

There were days when i skipped 1, 2, or even 3 days and i would feel sooo n* SSRI's have pretty strong withdrawal symptoms.

I wasn't at home, so I couldn't do the lemon water or milk, but I'll try it next time. I don't like trying anti-emetics because sometimes the taste of medicine makes me v.*

Are you around the time of your period (if you're a girl, I'm guessing yes because your name)? Or ovulation or any kind of PMS time? About 2 weeks after my period when I'm ovulating I always get waves of nausea that last a day or two. The same thing happens occasionally when I'm on my period. It freaked me out the first few times it happened but then I pinpointed how often it was happening and I figured out it was because of that.

I'm not around the time of my period right now, although I do feel generally sick when it happens. I think yesterday's symptoms were from my anxiety, but I'm equally anxious today, because my friend thinks she has a sv.* Ugh! I hate this!
