Hey all, so I haven't left my house for 2 days because I have a cold (no fever, but regular cold symptoms and I'm sleeping a lottt), but I have plans tomorrow and I won't be completely cured. I've heard things about not going out when you're getting over something like a cold because your immune system is more run down, so you'll be more exposed to different germs (like sv* germs.) That being said, is it safe to take the subway? I'm not sure how many of you have had this problem because I'm not sure how many of you live in cities, but any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Don't touch anything. I would use your sleeve to hold on the pole/rail. Maybe use a scarf to cover your nose and mouth too. I have a cold right now too and would take those very precautions.

No. I had a cold that lasted for a month last month. I went to the movies, buffet which I hate and we never go to, barber shop, wisdom teeth extractions, school. It should be ok, but wash your hands and don't touch your face.

I live in Paris, with the metro and shit right on my doorstep. If I feel particularly doomed to exposure, I just walk/ride my bike/take a taxi (usually too expensive, so this is a RARITY)/or wear gloves on the subway. I also cover my mouth and nose with this cool balaclava thing that I bought on eBay. I look like a sniper, but I don't give a monkey's toss if it means avoiding SV*. Usually I just get funny looks from other metro users who don't bother with my fastidious, freaked-out emet methods. Hopefully they just look at me and roll their eyes and think, "Weird foreign lady." Often they expect English weirdos like me to act pretty strange. I've stopped worrying now
