Hi guys. I am so grateful for this forum as it means I get to connect with all of you, who understand what I am going through. I haven't started CBT for my emet yet but I am scheduled to soon, but everyone on here is saying that they are the same if not worse after a course of CBT. This makes me so scared that I will be like this forever. I am only young, I don't want my life to be like this forever. I don't know what to do, I am so upset thinking there is no solution to this awful phobia.

Aww different things work for different people. Some people respond really well to CBT. I have had CBT but it was based around health anxiety mostly with only a bit of emet thrown in, and I have to say it didn't help me but I am thinking of trying again for emet alone.
I will try anything x

Huh. I've never done it myself, but I've always heard very positive or just neutral things about it, nothing bad. There are a million different therapists, medications, and resources for self-help out there. If cbt doesn't work for you, you just try something else. These things tend to wax and wane on their own, too. I certainly consider myself better than I was five years ago. Don't feel hopeless, and do talk to your therapist about these concerns at your first session. Good luck, you're taking a good step here

Thanks guys. I feel a little better now. I spoke to my therapist about it today and she said I am making good progress in other areas of my anxiety too so that should really help me when dealing with this. I am never going to stop trying stuff to fix this. My life can't be ruled by it any more.
