Hi, new to this forum but I have been really struggling with emet since about the age of 12, I am 22 now. The last time I v* was when I was four years old (knock on wood) but just like everyone else I am petrified when sv* starts making its way around every year. This year has been the worst year in a while for my emet, and thankfully no one in my household has gotten sick. But, my friend who I see relatively often told me she had come down with the sv* yesterday. I saw her briefly on Saturday (before she started showing symptoms) we interacted for a short period of time but we were both very bundled up as we were outside (it's really cold here!!) so I had gloves on and had most of my face covered as well. Even though I know all of this I can't help but feel as though I've been exposed and am doomed to get sv*. I know I'm being irrational but I'm petrified, any advice/kind words would be appreciated.

Hi kfpsa, I am the same age as you and the last time I v* was also as a child! It's awful isn't it. I have done a lot of reading up about sv* and basically, from what I have understood - in order to contract the virus you need to put the germs into your mouth (or nose) and swallow them. I wouldn't worry too much, I am having a hard time with my actual room mate just recovring and I am paranoid about it too but, we have good hygiene!!! Keep your head up!!! (But I also think it can be harder for people like us because we wont remember what it was like to be sick as it was so long ago and we were basically babies I'm here for you!)

I have had absolutely uncontrollable panic attacks about nausea and getting sick before, I fortunately haven't had to deal with the panic attacks in this instance so far, but I feel so overwhelmed with stress and fear that I just want to cry.

Me too, but I am never sick. It's so annoying.

Me too, but I am never sick. It's so annoying. Exactly, I have been nauseous and gotten myself so worked up that I am basically about to v* but then I manage to stop myself and the need to v* goes away entirely. I am finding some solace in the fact some people just seem to be immune to sv* and crossing my fingers and toes that I am one of them....

I'm the exact same. I panic for hours I'll be sick but realistically know I won't. It's ridiculous. Do you think there'll ever be a cure?

^^I'm literally the exact same way! I hope that a cure is out there somewhere, because I think about it so much that it's basically taken over my life

Still can't stop thinking about my room mates sv* hope it was only fp* but now I am wide awake at 2:34am panicking/getting sick and I CANT TELL WHICH ONE IT IS it has definitely taken over my life too. There has to be a cure somewhere. We need to find one.

That happens to me too! I get scared to go to bed because I'm worried I'll wake up unexpectedly with a sv.* I do often feel hot and cold because of anxiety though- both bc anxiety makes people feel uncomfortable and because with anxiety you overanalyze every little sensation you feel. Good luck xx
