Hi everyone!
Some people have pointed out that the title might be a little confusing for people who are coming here first, rather than going to IES first. I'm considering changing the site to emetophobia.proboards.com (or emetophobiasupport.proboards.com if it's taken). However, I'm concerned that the change of URL will make it so that people can't come over from IES.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Should we just plug the old forum with the new URL?

Would changing the site name do anything to these boards, or would it simply just change the url?
If it is a matter of having those from ies come here, we could just plug the new forum url on there like we were doing with the current url.

If we change it, which is a great idea now that we have al pretty much decided to stay here, then I will go onto the original IES site and post a forum with a title directing people here that has the new URL on it. We should warn the people on this site first, as some are not on daily, so that they know what to type in once it is actually changed.

I think before changing it, make sure we can still post on IES right before and then post the new link right after its changed or ASAP. I only say this because I am paranoid and I always think "what if the site goes down even more or we lose our posting privileges" and then everyone goes to the link for here instead of the updated forum...if that makes any sense.
I just think worst case scenario. And def let the current members of this site know a couple days in advance what is happening in case the url changes

Sunday morning I will go to the original site and post the new address. Did you decide what to pick?

I noticed that when I am not logged in, I can open other posts like normal. (Non-public) But when I am logged in, the error shows up. I think that you could rename it to ies, internationalemetophobia, internationalemetophobiasupport. The last one might be too long, but I think it should be something that corresponds with IES. That is what we all know it as.

Shoot, my computer wasn't working. It's fixed now though... Shall I change it tomorrow? Or give more time? I think ies.proborads.com might be good, short and sweet ^^
EDIT: I just took a look and found that the only way to change the URL costs $9.99. Do you guys still want to change it?

It does not matter to me, but if it is possible for you to do it, I don't see anything wrong with changing it. It would be shorter. If you can't, or if you have to ask parents or something then I think for now it is fine. But, it is not my decision. Whatever works for me. If you want to do it, maybe give a few more days to let all members know.

I think we should wait until next weekend, perhaps Friday. ies.proboards.com should be the name. The old site's admin isn't going to care that we use it, if they ever even find out, and if there's a problem we could say it means "informative emetophobic's site" or otherwise. Once the change is made I will go on the original site and post the new link into every forum category. If there's way that, as staff, we could send a message to every user stating that it changes to ies.proboards.com on Friday the 13th (what a wonderful day), then we would do that (and send to anybody who joins after the message is sent). I think that would be enough notice beforehand. Don't forget to change the forum name as well from fallback to something else (either "IES - for Emetophobics" or something similar). If the message can't be sent, perhaps at the top of the screen put a new category called "MUST READ" and make a thread in there about this move.

I can do that- issue is just money. $10 might not be much for others but for a teen without an income...
Either way, I like the idea of a change on the 13th. Also, it says that for two weeks all traffic from the old url will be sent to the new url.

Sweet on the old link working for 2 weeks.
If you can't afford it Koiz, I wouldn't change it. That's a nice chunk of change simply to swap out names.

It would be a nice change, and if they can redirect people coming to this URL to the new URL that would be perfect. Do you think you could scrape up $10 from your parents? I'm your age and if I need money I get it from them. If they don't know about this site, then you could try telling them you want to buy something at school or whatever. I've gotten money by saying that my teacher was going to buy us lunch but we had to pay them back, which actually was the case once last school year. The 13th would be a great day for the change if you can get it by then.
