I was last sick...: When I was 6.

(Copying this from the Emetophobia subreddit since I also posted this post there too.)
So basically throughout my school SO MANY people are getting sick right now. I'm a senior in high school: one of my friends said that their entire family was sick except them (so i'm assuming they're a carrier) and someone else in my class was sick too. So I've read up about noro and I'm calm to know that it's not THAT easy to get it; but here's the catch: i bite my nails almost 24/7. I'm also really obsessed with handwashing though so I make sure I always wash my hands before/after biting my nails. Literally the worst thing is the more anxious I am the more my hands will be near/in my mouth (because my oral fixation gets worse when I'm put in a s tressful situation and its mostly because of my autism and have been doing this my whole life blah blah)
I'm really worried. Will I be okay if I wash my hands enough? I'm literally doing it more than 20+ times a day. I just need validation. I'm so worried I'm not gonna be okay. I just took a Dramamine just incase. Thanks emetophobia forum. I can always rely on you guys.

Hi Juno! I'm sure you know how to wash your hands thoroughly - so I bet you'll be fine. The only way you can get it is of course you're touching those particles. So as long as your classmates are staying home as they are sick you are good to go. You'll be ok. <3

I know exactly what you're talking about! I'm a junior, and I was sitting in my history class yesterday morning when down the hallway I hear coughing, then flushing. Then... more coughing, more flushing. And so on for a few minutes. It freaked me out so bad and I nearly had a panic attack right there in class. Luckily I have a really interesting teacher so I managed to get distracted, but I have held my breath whenever I'm within ~30 feet of that bathroom ever since.
One of my friends was out for three days (and she sits at my same table) because she was v non stop. Then she came back to school and I had no choice but to be near her and (knock on wood) here I am, still alive!
Keep washing your hands! Don't touch anything you don't absolutely have to, and even then try to use a tissue, sleeve, etc etc. Also, I'm sure you've heard it before, but finding a different outlet for your nail chewing would be fantastic. It's bad to wash your hands a huge amount, as it creates cracks where the virus can go into your body. I will say though, I'll take cracked hands over a much easier chance of getting a bug! You could try hand lotion; I recommend Burt's Bees.
