7 The number of positions on a Trombone slide, although some note's position(s) must be out more or in more on the slide. People get confused at how we know where to stop the slide for each note. We hear the note and if it's flat, we must go in, and if it's sharp, we must go out. Positions for trigger notes, if playing a Trombone with an F-attachment, tend to be much father than their "number" position because the notes come out very sharp in "normal" positions. So there's an extremely basic lesson on the Trombone slide.
