hey guys. the norovirus is going around like always, but it seems to be particular worse around where I live this year. It has gotten so bad that my high school has shut down tomorrow because so many people are sick. I was with my friend on Saturday night and she wasn't feeling well so I left. A few hours later, she started v*. Half of my friends have gotten this sv* and i'm desperately hoping that I won't. For the last few days, i've felt n* but haven't v*. It's been 50+ hours since i've last been around my friend who caught it or since i've left my house in general. Do you guys think i'm okay and it's just my anxiety ? Or can I still get the bug? If so, if I wash my hands a lot will I be fine? I am terrified of this

Hey, ik how hard this is, but you're definitely not alone. I'm feeling really n* right now too and everyone's telling me it's just my anxiety. Anxiety, especially with noro* going around as much as it has this year, can definitely make you feel n* and convinced that you're sick. That sucks about your school, but take comfort in the fact that it's closed, you have another day (or a few) to rest at home, and you have less of a chance to get it bc you won't be around so many people!
Also, as for your friend, I'm sure that if you were exposed that long ago you're fine. I've heard that it's supposed to be 12 hours after exposure, maybe even 24 but not 48 or 50.

thanks for the response!! i just woke up and i'm still feeling slightly n*. but i heard that noro symptoms come on quickly and you v* pretty suddenly. so i'm sure that it's just our anxiety because there's no way we'd feel nauseous for this long and not v*!

Exactly! If you have a bug, your body usually makes it pretty clear very quickly. Try to use it to your advantage whenever you are feeling sick for a certain period of time and reassure yourself that if it's gone on that long it's almost certainly just anxiety.
In my life I feel like most times I've had a bug it has hit me in the middle of the night for some reason. Each time I remember waking up and just knowing I need to get to the toilet ASAP. There is no time to think about it and as soon as I'd make it there it would be happening. So whenever I wake up in the middle of the night now and feel a little anxious I always remind myself that if it was a bug I wouldn't even have the time to worry about it or try to determine if I have a bug or not.

my stomach has been feeling pretty strange for 3 days now but i haven't v*. does anyone know what could be the cause of this? I feel queasy on and off and my stomach is making weird noises. I also feel super bloated when I try to eat.

That happens to me too. From my experience, it's because of anxiety. It's worse because us emets have been more anxious lately since there are more people with a sv* than usual.

ugh I just want to go back to feeling how I was before this whole scare. Is there anything I can do to calm these nerves?

May I first ask what state you live in?? I have been living in fear the past couple days. My son is 5 and I am terrified to send him to school every day. The only advice I can offer is maybe meditate, listen to soothing music, yoga..etc.

When you have a sv*, the v* usually comes right after the d.* So if you have d* but you don't feel like you're going to v*, you're fine.

A lot of the time we give ourselves d* by worrying. Try taking a walk outside or listening to uplifting music.
